Job Title: IP Practice Assistant III

Job Responsibilities:
The IP Practice Assistant III at the law firm is responsible for supporting IP litigation attorneys and paralegals in all aspects of patent litigation. Key responsibilities include:

- Formatting, editing, and managing legal documents such as pleadings and discovery materials.
- Scheduling and coordinating various legal proceedings and meetings, including depositions, court dates, filing deadlines, calendars, appointments, and travel arrangements.
- Conducting conflict checks and handling new matters, which involves preparing engagement letters and managing client and case documents.
- Collaborating closely with attorneys and paralegals to prepare and file official correspondence according to the firm’s standards and procedures.
- Communicating regularly with the team and ensuring the accuracy of work products before presenting them for attorney review and subsequent filing or sending.
- Proactively managing casework and assignments to ensure all deadlines are met in a timely manner, and communicating calendar and docket updates to the Docket & Calendar Team.
- Availability to work during core business hours is required.

Education and Experience Information:
The position requires a minimum of five years of litigation experience in a law firm setting. Candidates should have experience with document productions and e-discovery, and possess a strong working knowledge of federal court rules and procedures. Extensive knowledge of litigation, including e-filings, trial procedures, and federal court procedures and rules, is essential. While knowledge of . Patent Office, Patent Trial and Appeal Board rules and procedures is helpful, it is not required.

A high school diploma or equivalent is required, with substantial and relevant work experience. A bachelor's degree or some college education is preferred. Additionally, a secretarial certification or ABA-approved paralegal certification is preferred.

Candidates must possess excellent spelling, grammar, and punctuation skills, along with strong attention to detail, the ability to prioritize tasks, and excellent time management skills. The ability to handle multiple projects with changing priorities while working independently in a fast-paced environment is necessary. Candidates must also be capable of working overtime, evenings, and weekends as needed, and be able to work both independently and as part of a team.

Computer/Software Knowledge:
Candidates must have proficiency in Windows 10, Microsoft Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, Zoom, and Teams, along with experience working with a document management system. The ability to quickly learn new skills and systems is also required.

Salary Information:
In California, the pay range for the IP Practice Assistant III position is to per hour.

Additional Information:
The work environment at the law firm is currently hybrid, requiring employees to work in the office a minimum of three days per week and allowing remote work for the remainder of the week, subject to change. Overtime may be required as job duties demand.
