Job Title: Financial Analyst
Job Responsibilities:
The Financial Analyst at the law firm is responsible for a range of financial tasks that support the firm's management and operations. Key responsibilities include:
- Creating and distributing month-end financial reports to senior management.
- Preparing and maintaining the budgeting database, including balancing and distributing the final product to appropriate groups on a quarterly basis.
- Designing and preparing statistical reports on timekeepers for annual compensation evaluation.
- Assisting in the design and implementation of financial reports for monitoring performance by cost center, practice group, and office.
- Analyzing and troubleshooting system issues to ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness of financial information.
- Developing and designing the attorney desktop reporting application/dashboard, which involves understanding the structure of accounting system tables and developing links for real-time reporting.
- Performing data analysis to identify trends and opportunities for financial improvement.
- Staying current with industry best practices and new financial technologies.
- Collaborating effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences to ensure seamless processes.
- Occasional travel to other office locations is required.
- Completing other projects as requested.
Education and Experience Information:
- A Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is required.
- A minimum of three years of work-related experience is required, with experience in the legal field considered a plus.
- Preferred experience includes a minimum of three years with SQL and extensive knowledge of computer software such as Business Objects, Access, Iridium, Excel, Crystal Report, and PowerPoint.
- Preference is given to candidates with experience in legal software such as Aderant Expert, BillBlast, Prebill Manager, Emburse, Chrome River, and Intapp.
- Strong understanding of general ledger, balance sheet, income statement, and financial reporting principles is essential.
- Candidates must demonstrate good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for resolution and possess excellent communication, time management, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- The ability to exercise independent judgment and recommend improvements in areas of responsibility is required.
- The role requires flexibility and the ability to prioritize workload effectively.
Salary Information:
The salary range for the Financial Analyst position in Minneapolis is $80,000 – $90,000. The offered salary will be determined by various factors including work location, individual skill set, previous/applicable experience, education, external market data, and consideration of internal equity.
