Job Title: Patent Agent/Advisor (Medtech)
Job Responsibilities:
The Patent Agent/Advisor will be responsible for a variety of tasks within the patent counseling and prosecution practice. Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting prior art database searches to assess patentability and freedom to operate.
- Analyzing patent and scientific papers and documents to support patent attorneys in patent prosecution, counseling, and litigation.
- Drafting patent applications and responding to office actions.
- Demonstrating superb technical, written, and verbal communication skills in English.
- Applying broad scientific knowledge in mechanical engineering and/or biomedical engineering to tasks.
- Collaborating effectively with team members and demonstrating initiative and a willingness to learn quickly.
Education and Experience Information:
- A degree in mechanical, chemical, or biomedical engineering (or a related field) is required.
- An advanced degree is considered a plus.
- At least one year of experience in a law firm is necessary.
- Substantive industry experience is required.
- The candidate must be a registered US patent agent or be eligible to sit for the USPTO registration exam and meet the requirements for registration as a patent agent.
Salary Information:
The expected annual pay range for this position is $125,000 - $205,000. The final offer amount will depend on geographic location, applicable experience, and the skillset of the candidate.
