Job Title: Senior Attorney

Job Responsibilities:
The Senior Attorney will serve with substantial independence from supervision in a confidential capacity. Key responsibilities include:
- Researching legal questions and issues.
- Organizing investigations and preparing cases for presentation before administrative tribunals and courts.
- Performing legal research and advocacy services in various units such as the Mental Hygiene Legal Service, attorney disciplinary committees, or 18B panel administration.
- Overseeing a departmental law guardian program if required.
- Managing a significant caseload and conducting complex investigations into allegations of professional misconduct against attorneys within the Grievance Committee.
- Conducting examinations under oath, litigating cases before Special Referees, and handling disciplinary matters before the Appellate Division.
- Engaging in extensive writing, including confidential memoranda, petitions, motions, and legal briefs.
- Utilizing excellent interpersonal and communication skills to handle sensitive matters confidentially.
- Conducting financial audits with knowledge of Excel as a plus.

Education and Experience Information:
- Admission to the New York State bar.
- Two years of service in the Attorney title or equivalent legal experience.

Salary Information:
- Base salary of $99,490, with an additional $4,920 location pay.

The position is classified as non-competitive/confidential and is situated at the Appellate Division, 2nd Department, Grievance Committee for the 2nd, 11th, and 13th Judicial Districts. While the position is currently available at a specific location, appointees may be subject to reassignment within the same title based on the needs of the Unified Court System.
