Network/Security Engineer
Job Responsibilities
The Network/Security Engineer at the law firm will contribute significantly to the planning, design, implementation, and support of the firm’s security infrastructure systems. The role ensures the integrity, availability, and security of the firm’s systems and data. This position is hybrid, requiring two days a week in the office and three days from a home office. The engineer will:
- Understand and contribute to the firm's technology and security objectives across networking and server infrastructure.
- Serve as a key contributor to architectural design, direction, research, and evaluation of new technology and concepts.
- Research and recommend solutions aligned with business needs.
- Manage project and operational priorities and tasks.
- Manage system backup and restore needs.
- Lead and contribute to disaster recovery (DR) and business continuity planning (BCP) and execution.
- Oversee operational management of critical security and infrastructure systems.
- Manage Microsoft Active Directory and Microsoft Azure using best practices for operations and security.
- Provide maintenance and support for security and infrastructure platforms, including configuration, troubleshooting, patching, and upgrades.
- Act as a high-level technical resource to resolve complex problems and serve as a resource for training and knowledge sharing across the team.
- Create and update documentation.
- Contribute to knowledge sharing and cross-training across the team.
- Maintain technical knowledge on current and emerging security solutions.
- Manage system and software lifecycle across planning, implementation, operation, and decommissioning.
- Interact with and manage vendors that provide systems and services for the firm.
Education and Experience Information
Candidates should possess a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience. The role requires over five years of experience in planning, design, implementation, maintenance, and support. The candidate must have technical knowledge and experience in managing and maintaining:
- Windows Active Directory, MS Azure Entra ID
- Windows Servers, Cloud services, Exchange
- Storage, Backup solutions
- VMware and vCenter, and other virtualization platforms
- PKI, Local area networking, Wide area networking
- Firewalls, SD Wan, DNS
Candidates should also have the ability to create and maintain technical documentation, work collaboratively with others in the delivery and support of IT systems, and possess knowledge of IT security frameworks and best practices. Strong organizational skills, problem-solving abilities, and excellent communication skills are required.
Salary Information
The anticipated salary range for applicants, as required by applicable state laws, is $100,000 - $150,000, depending on experience. The actual salary will vary and may be above or below the range. The law firm offers a full comprehensive benefit plan, including health care, retirement plan, paid days off, PTO, parental leave, and short/long-term disability.
