Job Title: Litigation Legal Assistant/Paralegal
Job Responsibilities:
- Draft pleadings, such as Answers and Motion
- Prepare, serve, and answer written discovery demands and responses, including but not limited to Interrogatories and Notice to Produce
- Draft legal documents, correspondence, and/or pleadings
- Prepare trademark applications, preliminary clearance searches, and filing responses to Office Actions and TTAB actions
- Prepare and serve letters to clients
- Maintain calendar; schedule and confirm deposition dates and follow-up on all deadlines
- E-file documents in State, Federal, and Appellate Courts
- Utilize knowledge of New Jersey and New York state and federal litigation procedure and discovery deadlines
- Support attorneys and team members as necessary, manage multiple ongoing assignments, communicate effectively with external parties (clients, court officials, opposing counsel offices, etc.), and participate in office-wide projects as needed
Education and Experience Information:
- Minimum of 5 years of legal assistant experience in Intellectual Property and Commercial Litigation
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel
- Understanding of local, state, and federal rules of procedure, particularly for filing purposes
Candidate Qualifications:
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Capacity to work in a team setting and perform tasks/projects independently
- Reliability and responsiveness, particularly due to current remote working environment
- Ability to follow directions and ask for guidance if not understood
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet strict deadlines
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Zoom
- Availability/flexibility to work overtime
Hybrid Hours:
- Monday-Friday, 9am – 5pm with the flexibility to work overtime when needed
- Minimum 3 days a week in office
- 2 days a week remotely
Salary Information:
- The annualized salary range for this position is $55,000 to $75,000. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.
