Job Title: Senior Manager - Settlement Administration
Job Responsibilities:
Senior Managers in the Settlement Administration department at the company are responsible for a range of client-facing project management duties. They act as subject matter experts in the projects they oversee, ensuring that engagements assigned by the Director are managed with the appropriate attention and direction from the Managers, Analysts, and Coordinators they supervise. Their primary role includes ensuring that project deliverables exceed client expectations and contributing to the organization's growth and prosperity. They are responsible for identifying opportunities for improvement and leading process enhancement initiatives, collaborating closely with management and executive levels.
Day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Team Leadership: Senior Managers directly manage a team of Managers, Analysts, and/or Coordinators, which may be spread across multiple locations globally. They provide performance feedback, training, and support for team development. They also conduct employee reviews, set clear objectives and expectations, and act as the hiring manager to build out teams as needed.
- Client Relationship Oversight: They ensure that cases assigned to their team are handled appropriately, meeting and exceeding client expectations. They provide support and guidance, proactively escalating issues to Directors and senior leadership when necessary. They engage directly with clients to define needs and ensure engagements are managed appropriately and timely.
- Project Management: Senior Managers supervise project teams directly, ensuring timely and accurate execution of project deliverables, key milestones, and tasks. They oversee compliance with Settlement Agreements or other mandates/milestones, drive deadlines, and take ownership and accountability for the overall delivery to the client.
- Performance Management: They set billable hour goals and targets for utilization and quality for their project team members, meet their own billable hour goals, review key reports to ensure work is being correctly performed by direct reports, and validate invoicing while closely monitoring case budgets.
- Internal Collaboration: Senior Managers work internally to meet client needs while building internal relationships and fostering team building. They utilize standard processes and systems, support new efforts and approaches, and provide feedback to encourage continuous improvement.
- Effective Decisions: They make well-informed, independent, effective, and timely decisions, understanding the impact and implications on projects and the business. They also make thoughtful recommendations to Directors and senior management.
Education and Experience Information:
- A Bachelor’s degree is required.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in claims administration, account management, client services, paralegal, and/or project management is strongly preferred, with budget responsibility for projects being advantageous.
- Exceptional communication skills are necessary.
- A background in legal, banking, financial services/accounting, or previous class action administration is required.
- Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Excel, exceptional planning, and organizational skills are essential.
- Strong analytical skills and exceptional attention to detail are necessary.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to handle pressure are crucial.
- Previous leadership experience with responsibility for basic supervisor duties, such as hiring, developing, and disciplining teams, is required.
- PMP certification or equivalent is highly desirable.
- Paralegal experience or a JD is also highly desirable.
