Job Title: Senior Paralegal
Job Responsibilities:
The Senior Paralegal is tasked with supporting the legal team by researching and analyzing relevant laws and legal documents. This role involves staying informed about regulatory changes and preparing and submitting necessary compliance reports, such as Affirmative Action Plans, EEO-1, and Vets 4212. The Senior Paralegal works closely with Legal, Asset Protection, Safety, Workers’ Compensation, and Compliance departments to analyze statistical data and recommend program changes and cost-saving measures for the organization and its affiliates. Additionally, they manage litigation files and vendor contract processes.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting with discovery and fact investigation by collecting various records and maintaining evidence.
- Monitoring and examining claims from the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), Department of Labor (DOL), and other litigation claims to evaluate potential risks and recommend mitigation efforts.
- Reviewing, tracking, and managing legal agreements and ensuring proper routing of legal forms.
- Maintaining legal files and databases, scheduling meetings, and coordinating correspondence.
- Conducting witness interviews to gather information on legal issues or claims.
- Filing other legal documents as needed.
- Collaborating effectively within cross-functional teams.
- Reading, researching, and verifying correspondence, reports, and legal documents; drafting letters and documents; coordinating preparation of charts and graphs; filing annual reports when necessary.
- Assisting in the selection and implementation of contract, document, and claims management software to enhance operational efficiency.
- Managing contract lifecycle, including reviewing, tracking, renewing, and expiring contracts using the Contract Management System.
- Ensuring compliance with Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) and other certification programs.
- Preparing PowerPoint presentations and materials as required.
- Coordinating project-based work, such as Affirmative Action Plans, EEO-1, Vets 4212, and Pavilions.
- Partnering with Asset Protection, Safety, and other departments to ensure compliance.
- Becoming a "master user" of technology enhancements that improve the Legal department's performance.
- Updating job knowledge through educational opportunities, professional publications, personal networks, and participation in professional organizations.
- Enhancing departmental and organizational reputation by exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
- Conducting EEOC-related training across all divisions when necessary.

- Maintaining consistent in-person attendance.
- Performing other related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Information:
- A minimum of 7 years’ experience as an Administrative Professional or Paralegal in a corporate or legal department setting, preferably with VP-level and above experience.
- Strong preference for experience working with and understanding California Law.
- Strong preference for complex litigation management experience.
- Proficiency in typing at least 60 words per minute.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including electronic media and e-mail.
- Ability to read, edit, and interpret complex documents to create a clear audit trail.
- Ability to work independently and accept direction on assigned tasks.
- Ability to multi-task effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage frequent changes, delays, or unexpected events.
- Strong time management skills, ability to meet deadlines, and prioritize tasks with high attention to detail and accuracy.
- High level of professionalism and ability to relate comfortably and professionally to individuals at all organizational levels.
- Strong organizational skills for maintaining hard copy and electronic documents, files, and information.
- Ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality, particularly with sensitive, financial, proprietary, and attorney-client privileged information.
- Ability to quickly acquire knowledge of the organization's policies, procedures, mission, vision, and culture.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening, where applicable.
- Proficiency in English language reading and speaking.
Salary Information:
The salary range for the Senior Paralegal position is $75,958 to $100,000. Employees are eligible for a comprehensive Total Rewards package effective the 1st of the month following 60 days of employment, which includes:
