Job Title: Senior Manager - Settlement Administration
Job Responsibilities:
Senior Managers at the company are tasked with a range of client-facing project management responsibilities and are expected to be subject matter experts in the projects they oversee. Their primary role is to ensure that the engagements assigned by the Director they report to are managed with the appropriate attention and direction from the Managers, Analysts, and Coordinators they supervise. They play a crucial role in ensuring that the execution of project deliverables exceeds client expectations. The Senior Manager is considered integral to the growth and prosperity of the organization and is responsible for identifying areas of opportunity and leading process improvement initiatives. They work closely with management and executive management to achieve these goals.
Day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Team Leadership: The Senior Manager is responsible for directly managing a team of Managers, Analysts, and/or Coordinators, sometimes across multiple locations. They provide feedback on performance, support and training for development, and write and deliver employee reviews. They motivate and enable the team by setting clear objectives and expectations and act as the hiring manager in building out teams as necessary, identifying top candidates for roles.
- Client Relationship Oversight: The Senior Manager ensures that cases assigned to their team are handled appropriately and that client expectations are met and exceeded. They provide support and guidance when needed and proactively escalate matters to Directors and senior leadership for awareness. They engage directly with clients to define needs and ensure engagements are handled appropriately and timely.
- Project Management: The Senior Manager is responsible for the direct supervision of project teams, ensuring timely and accurate execution of project deliverables and key milestones. They oversee the terms of Settlement Agreements or other mandates, driving deadlines with quality outcomes, and take ownership and accountability for overall delivery to the client.
- Performance Management: They set billable hour goals and targets for utilization and quality for project team members they supervise and meet their own billable hour goals. They review key reports to ensure controls are accurately utilized and expected work is occurring from direct reports, ensuring and validating invoicing as necessary, and pay close attention to case budgets.
- Internal Collaboration: The Senior Manager works internally to meet client needs while building internal relationships and supporting team building. They utilize standard processes and systems, support new efforts and approaches, and provide feedback to encourage continuous improvement.
- Effective Decisions: They make well-informed, independent, effective, and timely decisions, perceiving the impact and implications of those decisions on projects and/or the business. They make thoughtful recommendations to the Director and senior management.
Education and Experience Information:
- A Bachelor’s degree is required.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in claims administration, account management, client services, paralegal, and/or project management is strongly preferred, preferably with budget responsibility for projects.
- A background in legal, banking, or financial services/accounting or previous class action administration is required.
- Excellent computer skills, including Excel, and exceptional planning and organizational skills are necessary.
- Exceptional communication, attention to detail, and strong analytical skills are essential.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to handle pressure are required.
- Previous leadership experience with responsibility for basic supervisory duties, including hiring, developing, and disciplining teams, is necessary.
- PMP certification or equivalent is highly desirable.
- Paralegal experience or a JD is also highly desirable.
