Job Title: Litigation Legal Assistant
Job Responsibilities:
- Answer and return calls promptly, including screening new client inquiries.
- Manage attorney calendars, including scheduling appointments, deadlines, meetings, depositions, and mediations.
- Draft and prepare legal documents such as pleadings, contracts, discovery, and correspondence.
- Maintain regular communication via phone, email, fax, and formal letters.
- File documents both electronically and physically, and e-file documents with the court.
- Track open matters through to completion.
- Prepare and send invoices.
- Coordinate mail, certified mail (e-Certify), and overnight packages.
- Participate in weekly or monthly attorney meetings.
- Support other departments and train co-workers when needed.
- Stay up-to-date with office technology and software.
- Maintain complete and organized records in the document management system.
Education and Experience Information:
- Required: 2 years of experience as a Legal Assistant.
Salary Information:
- Pay range: - per hour, commensurate with experience.
Additional Information:
- Schedule: Full-time, in-office.
- Location: La Porte, IN.
- Bilingual skills, particularly in Spanish, are a plus but not required.
- Ideal candidates should have excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills with a team-first mindset, high attention to detail and organization, and proficiency with Microsoft Office and modern legal software.
