Job Title: Business Legal Assistant
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide skilled, proactive administrative support to attorneys and team members in the Business and Intellectual Property Practice Groups.
- Edit and proofread complex documents, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with attorneys and legal team members regarding projects, needs, and transaction status.
- Collaborate with legal team and accounting to gather costs and time for closing preparations.
- Support the billing process by reviewing and commenting on billing information, editing reports, preparing cover letters/emails, and addressing client and attorney inquiries.
- Perform administrative duties independently, such as proofreading, editing attorney time entries, managing Continuing Legal Education credits, and processing reimbursements.
- Prepare and review letters and memoranda in accordance with law firm standards.
- Exhibit outstanding client service in all communications.
- Display strong attention to detail and numeric aptitude.
- Anticipate necessary tasks/projects and proactively perform them.
- Respond to requests with urgency and effectively prioritize work.
- Demonstrate flexibility and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Monitor and communicate deadlines to the legal team as needed.
- Create, maintain, and retire files following the law firm's Information Governance Policy.
- Assist in managing client contacts, emails, print documents, and mail.
- May enter time into billing management software.
Education and Experience Information:
- 2+ years of Legal Assistant experience is strongly preferred.
- Proficient command of the English language and standard grammar rules is a must.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs is required.
- A desire to maintain excellent technical skills and learn new software through internal training programs is necessary.
