Paralegal - Real Estate Duties: Responsible for many aspects of commercial real estate due diligence including review of title commitments, surveys and zoning documents for completeness and accuracy, ordering, and reviewing judgment/lien/bankruptcy searches, good standing certificates. Assist attorneys in identifying and resolving issues in connection with title, survey and zoning due diligence, and provide information and documentation to clients regarding the same. Preparation of ancillary loan documents, including borrower's certificates, deeds of trust, and mortgages, rent roll certificates, personal property certificates, UCC financing statements; assignment documents including assignment of mortgage, assignment of ground leases and preparation of estoppels re same, assignment of leases and rents; ancillary affidavits and schedules; and, transfer documents including deeds, transfer tax forms, affidavits, and certifications. Provide transactional assistance to attorneys including organization and maintenance of deal files, checklists and closing binders. Prepare distribution or mailing of closing documents, as necessary. Follow up on and organization of post-closing items including recorded documents and post-closing requirements. Reconciliation of exception lists. Assist with closings. Preparation of basic corporate formation documents for real estate entities. Assist attorneys and other paralegals with assigned projects as needed. Record daily time entries in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Firm. Provide notary public services, if commissioned.
Basic Qualifications: A Bachelor's Degree. 5+ years of real estate paralegal experience. Ability to organize and prioritize numerous tasks and complete them under time constraints. Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail when performing duties. Excellent interpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate in person, by e-mail and telephone and follow the instructions effectively from a diverse group of clients, attorneys and staff and provide information with ordinary courtesy and tact. Ability to independently manage work on several different short-term and long-term projects. Ability to work, on occasion, to irregular hours, including evenings and weekends. Ability to proofread documents for accuracy, including context, grammar, typographic and spelling errors.
