Patent Prosecution Specialist
Job Responsibilities:
The Patent Prosecution Specialist at the law firm will undertake a variety of tasks related to patent prosecution and the preparation and filing of documents for international and foreign national patent applications. The key responsibilities include:
- Preparing and filing documents with the . Patent and Trademark Office, including new patent applications, Information Disclosure Statements (IDS), preliminary amendments, and formalities. Preparing client reporting letters and correspondence regarding formalities, official actions, notices of allowance, and letters patent.
- Preparing and filing documents related to international and foreign national patent applications, and filing documents with the World Intellectual Property Office International Bureau and foreign national patent offices, adhering to set guidelines and procedures.
- Analyzing documents issued by the Patent and Trademark Office for accuracy, such as filing receipts, assignment documents, and certificates of correction.
- Preparing patent prosecution documents, including transcribing instructions, producing patent applications, correspondence, reports, memoranda, proofreading, redlining, photocopying, assembling, and distributing.
- Maintaining accurate information on patent file jackets and creating and updating client status charts and reports.
Education and Experience Information:
Candidates for the Patent Prosecution Specialist role should possess the following qualifications and experience:

- 3 - 5 years of current patent prosecution experience.
- Strong organizational skills to prioritize work and manage multiple projects and assignments.
- Ability to work well under pressure and participate effectively in a team environment.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Proficiency in and knowledge of software such as CPI Patent, CPI Trademark, MS-Office (MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel), WorkSite, Adobe Acrobat, Legal MacPac, Outlook, Office Communicator, and iManage.
Salary Information:
The salary range for the Patent Prosecution Specialist position varies based on location:
- In Century City, CA, Orange County, CA, and Seattle, WA, the salary range is $75, - $120,.
- In San Francisco, CA, and Silicon Valley, CA, the salary range is $78, - $125,.
The base salary wage range will be determined during the interview process and may vary based on factors such as prior experience, relevant expertise, current business needs, and market factors. Final salary wages may be outside of this range based on individual circumstances. The total compensation package includes eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus.
