Director & Counsel

Job Responsibilities:
The Director & Counsel position within the Global Employment Law Group at the company involves a range of responsibilities centered on providing legal advice and counsel on employment law matters across the United States and Canada. Key duties include:
- Advising and supporting the Colleague Experience Group (HR) and business partners on employment law issues, policies, communications, and procedures.
- Leading the development and execution of strategic initiatives and special projects to enhance the colleague experience strategy.
- Overseeing and managing employment litigations, arbitrations, and employment-related government investigations and agency charges.
- Reviewing and providing legal advice related to company communications, policies, and procedures from an employment law perspective.
- Drafting employment-related documents such as releases and agreements.
- Forming strong partnerships with colleagues across various departments to mitigate legal, operational, regulatory, and reputational risks.
- Maintaining and developing subject matter expertise on employment-related laws and regulations.
- Collaborating with the General Counsel’s Organization and the Colleague Experience Group to facilitate knowledge sharing and best practices.

Education and Experience Information:
The position requires the following educational qualifications and experience:
- A Bachelor’s degree and . from an accredited law school.
- Qualification to practice law in New York and in good standing.
- At least 8 years of relevant employment law experience in either a law firm or an in-house corporate legal environment.
- Excellent communication, analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- A high level of professionalism and confidentiality, with a commitment to ethical conduct.
- The ability to work independently and possess excellent writing skills.

Preferred qualifications include:
- Experience in identifying and managing conduct risk-related issues and creating, implementing, and interpreting related policies and programs.
- Experience representing GSIP banks and interpreting applicable conduct risk regulations.
- Litigation and arbitration experience.
- Experience supporting clients with employees in other markets, including Canada.
- Knowledge of the latest best practices and principles related to governance of Artificial Intelligence and Generative AI in the employment space.
- Experience providing advice related to benefits and executive compensation.
- The ability to handle multiple workstreams simultaneously, take on new responsibilities, and prioritize work in a dynamic, deadline-intensive environment.
- The ability to act as a trusted advisor to business teams, build relationships, and partner with others to drive results.
- The ability to pivot appropriately when presented with new information or evolving circumstances.

Salary Information:
The salary range for the Director & Counsel position is $170, to $255, annually, plus bonus, equity (if applicable), and benefits. The final pay will consider the candidate's location, experience, and other job-related factors.
