Job Title:
Patent Paralegal/IP Legal Assistant (Part Time) – Law Firm

Job Responsibilities:
The Patent Paralegal/IP Legal Assistant will be responsible for supporting the law firm's foreign and US patent procurement practice. The duties include:
- Filing PCT applications and US domestic and national phase applications
- Preparing and e-filing office action responses, information disclosure statements, petitions, issue fees, and other patent prosecution documents
- Timely seeking foreign filing licenses and instructing overseas attorneys on PCT nationalizations and Paris Convention filings, as well as working statements
- Communicating with associates throughout the world
- Updating the status of patents and patent applications and inspecting electronic patent file histories
- Filing sequence listings
- Preparing other patent forms and correspondence
- Preparing and sending client correspondence
- Working with timekeepers to review work and ensure docketing deadlines are met
- Maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information with discretion
- Being proactive, resourceful, and adaptable to handle unexpected tasks and challenges
- Meeting billable hours expectation and adhering to best practices for daily time entry

Education and Experience Information:
- Must have a high school diploma (or equivalent)
- A college degree and/or a paralegal certificate from a school approved by the ABA is preferred
- 2-5 years of foreign filing and/or . patent prosecution experience is preferred
- Trademark law experience is a plus
- Design law patent experience is a plus
- Knowledge of USPTO rules and practices
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to seamlessly perform and prioritize multiple tasks with excellent attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with staff and clients
- Must demonstrate professionalism, confidentiality, organizational skills, and the ability to be proactive
- Executes work with a high degree of precision and accuracy
- Proactive approach to problem-solving and strong decision-making capability
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational and judgment skills
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and prioritize responsibilities
- Ability to learn new concepts and skills quickly
- Expert proficiency with the MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) applications, including the ability to proof and edit non-routine correspondence, reports, and tables for typographical errors, and sentence structure

Salary Information:
Compensation for this part-time position is $26 - $36 per hour, depending on experience.
