Job Title: Legal Assistant
Job Responsibilities:
- Prepare memoranda for opening new legal matters.
- Prepare and file legal documents, including complaints, motions, subpoenas, and appeals.
- Organize and maintain case files, discovery materials, and trial binders.
- Conduct legal research and assist in drafting legal memoranda and reports.
- Manage attorney calendars and schedule depositions, hearings, and meetings.
- Coordinate communication with clients, court personnel, witnesses, and opposing counsel.
- Assist attorneys during trial preparation and proceedings.
- Monitor deadlines and ensure timely filings in accordance with court rules.
- Perform administrative duties such as answering phones, managing correspondence, and maintaining databases.
- Make travel arrangements for attorneys.
- Maintain time entry for billable hours.
- Create and maintain electronic directories.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Information:
- Bachelor’s or associate degree in legal studies or a related field is preferred.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience as a Legal Assistant or Paralegal is required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and legal document management systems.
- Familiarity with court filing procedures (state and federal).
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively under pressure.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with e-filing systems and legal research tools (., Westlaw, LexisNexis).
- Experience with case management systems (., ProLaw, iManage).
- Knowledge of legal terminology and litigation processes.
- High attention to detail and ability to multitask effectively.
Salary Information:
- The salary range is $25-$30 per hour, depending on experience.
- The pay range is a good faith estimate based on the hiring location. The position’s pay will be determined by criteria including but not limited to skill level, education, and experience.
