Job Title: VOP (Violation of Probation) Prosecutor

Position Description:
- Responsible for handling all types of post-trial collateral matters within the CIU, specifically the VOP sub-unit
- Review and manage post-trial cases, including violations of probation, select coram nobis petitions, select post-convictions, select sentencing modifications, expungements, and all hearings related to post-trial rights
- Prepare and handle cases on the collateral dockets of all thirty-five circuit court judges
- Identify and obtain relevant materials for collateral cases
- Contact victims and witnesses as needed
- Prepare written post-trial responses
- Engage in peer case reviews
- Attend regular CIU staff meetings
- Conduct research on relevant case law
- Prepare and follow up on cases
Requirements:
- Must possess a juris doctor degree and be licensed to practice law in the State of Maryland
- Highly organized and able to work independently in a high pressure environment
- Team player with strong communication skills
- Prior felony criminal jury trial experience required

The Conviction Integrity Unit VOP Prosecutor position is a non-supervisory role within the CIU, which is a sub-unit of the organization. Responsibilities of the Conviction Integrity Unit VOP Prosecutor include preparing and handling cases on the collateral dockets of all thirty-five circuit court judges, identifying and obtaining relevant materials for collateral cases, contacting victims and witnesses as needed, and engaging in peer case reviews. The successful candidate will also be responsible for attending regular CIU staff meetings, conducting research on relevant case law, and preparing and following up on cases.
