Job Title: Legal Assistant
Job Responsibilities:
The legal assistant will provide support to multiple attorneys within the law firm. This role requires the individual to manage various aspects of case management from intake to resolution, which includes scheduling, creating and pulling files, checking dockets, organizing files, and handling discovery tasks. The assistant will also be responsible for planning and managing tasks related to mediations, depositions, and trials.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting attorneys with case management, ensuring all aspects are organized and deadlines are met.
- Calendaring deadlines, including appointments, depositions, hearings, and other critical filings.
- Communicating effectively and professionally with clients, outside counsel, and court personnel through answering, transferring, and placing calls.
- Entering data using CLIO practice management software, with training provided by the law firm.
- Managing filing tasks, including handling inner-office documents, local court and recorder’s filings, and serving documents to opposing counsel via various methods such as electronic, fax, or mail.
- Drafting basic pleadings like notices and other legal documents from dictation.
- Setting up new files and maintaining accurate client databases.
- Preparing correspondence and managing general copying, scanning, and emailing of documents.
- Performing other support tasks as needed to assist attorneys and the legal team.
Education and Experience Information:
The candidate must have a minimum of 3 years of recent legal support experience in a law firm, with a preference for those with civil defense firm experience. Familiarity with case management software, MS Office, PDF editors, and web-based technology applications used for research and communication is required. Proficient typing and dictation skills are essential. Experience with insurance litigation is preferred.

Schedule:
