Job Title: Housing and Consumer Law Paralegal
Job Responsibilities:
The Housing and Consumer Law Paralegal is responsible for ensuring the efficient delivery of client services and maintaining harmonious internal operations within the Housing and Consumer Law Unit at the organization. The paralegal operates under the direct supervision of the unit supervising attorney and other unit attorneys. Key responsibilities include:
- Summarizing legal documents.
- Coordinating and performing legal research.
- Checking legal forms for accuracy.
- Preparing reports and correspondence.
- Drafting legal documents.
- Interviewing clients to gather information.
- Delivering and filing documents as needed.
- Assisting with outreach activities.
- Representing clients at administrative hearings where permissible, and assisting with the preparation of appeals under the supervision of an attorney.
- Performing other duties as required.
Education and Experience Information:
Candidates must have five years of experience in office administration or management. An associate degree or higher, or a Paralegal Studies certificate, is required. Preference is given to applicants who are fully fluent in both English and Spanish. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate:
- Sensitivity to client needs.
- The ability to type a minimum of 40 words per minute and successfully pass a secretarial skill test.
- Knowledge of basic professional letter formatting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint, and Outlook.
- The ability and willingness to interact with community members professionally, efficiently, and compassionately.

Salary Information:
The position is a full-time, non-exempt role with an annual salary starting at $45,000. The organization offers a generous benefits package, including health, vision, dental, and life insurance (for the employee), retirement plans, paid holidays, and generous annual and sick leave allotments. Employees start with 15 days of vacation and 12 days of sick leave per year, promoting a good work-life balance.
