Job Title: Paralegal, Family Law

Job Responsibilities:

Paralegal Duties:
- Advocate for clients, including handling complex cases.
- Assist attorneys with investigations and negotiations.
- Provide support during trials and, if necessary, testify at trial.
- Facilitate coordination of casework and client needs, especially in crossover cases between teams.
- Assist with the workflow of attorneys.
- Communicate effectively with courts, opposing counsel, opposing parties, and witnesses.
- Assist in requesting and compiling discovery and reciprocal discovery.
- Schedule hearings, phone conferences, and meetings.
- File documents with courts through various methods.
- Provide wraparound services and contact information for resources to clients.
- Coordinate and maintain calendars for attorneys.
- Assist with appeals, including drafting briefs.
- Meet with attorneys, clients, and other professionals to discuss assigned cases or projects.
- Draft legal documents including routine pleadings, motions, affidavits, and interrogatories; file motions and pleadings according to judicial procedures.
- Research and analyze statutes, regulations, legal articles, judicial decisions, and other legal sources; provide written analysis to attorneys.
- Interview clients and witnesses and prepare summaries of their statements.
- Prepare, organize, store, and retrieve case files, which may include evidence, exhibits, depositions, pleadings, and other items.
- Assist attorneys with trial preparation, which may include attending trials and hearings.
- Provide copies of files to clients upon request.
- Develop and maintain records regarding billable hours spent on specific cases.

Intake Duties:
- Receive new client phone calls, contact forms, live chats, and walk-ins.
- Maintain a calm and friendly phone demeanor with all prospective clients.
- Complete a questionnaire with prospective new clients and accurately enter information into the management system.
- Stay in communication with all new prospective clients and assist them with gathering and submitting documentation, answering questions as needed.
- Identify customer needs, clarify information, research every issue, and provide solutions and/or alternatives.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
- Associate degree in Paralegal Studies or related field required.
- Paralegal certificate required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Paralegal Studies or related field preferred.
- 2-3 years of Family Law experience preferred.
- Experience with Intake preferred.

Salary Information:

Additional Information:
- This is a full-time, in-office position.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software is required.
- The role requires excellent verbal and written communication skills, an understanding of legal language and principles, research methods, court pleadings and processes, and other related matters.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are necessary.
- The ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment is essential.
- Must maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion and good judgment.
- Physical requirements include prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer, and the ability to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
