Human Resources Generalist at Law Firm in Lansing, MI
Salary: Competitive starting salary, commensurate with experience
Experience: Bachelor’s degree required, HR certification a plus, minimum of 2 years HR Generalist experience preferred, experience with HRIS and payroll systems a plus, law office experience preferred
Essential Job Functions:
- Maintain accurate and confidential HR records and files
- Utilize HR databases and systems to manage data and communicate with vendors and payroll
- Assist employees with understanding benefit programs and HR policies and procedures
- Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations through audits and required document submission
- Plan and organize employee recognition events and initiatives to improve employee engagement and well-being
- Collaborate with HR team and senior leadership to set objectives and support business needs
- Manage offboarding process for employees, including communication and development of KPIs
- Participate in new hire orientation programs and continuously improve them
- Perform other assigned job duties as needed
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university, degree in HR Management or related field preferred
- Minimum of 2 years HR Generalist experience, preferably in a law office setting
- HR certification and/or experience with HRIS and payroll systems a plus
- Strong understanding of federal and state employment laws
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
- Detail-oriented with proficiency in spreadsheets and data management
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with all levels of employees
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate sound judgment
