Job Title: Litigation Legal Assistant
Job Responsibilities:
- Create and maintain a welcoming and professional environment for clients, both in-person and over the phone.
- Answer phone calls, take detailed messages, and relay information to attorneys and clients.
- Draft, proofread, and edit legal documents, correspondence, and memoranda from dictation, handwritten notes, or electronic files.
- Regularly use Microsoft Word, Outlook, and other Office applications at an advanced level.
- Manage document storage and organization using the law firm's document management system.
- Accurately enter time and expenses into law firm software.
- Assist in monthly invoicing, working closely with attorneys and accounting staff.
- Communicate with clients, courts, and other parties as instructed by attorneys.
- Perform research as needed for attorneys.
- Maintain both electronic and physical filing systems for easy access and organization.
- Assist in scheduling hearings, depositions, meetings, and arranging travel when required.
- Handle mailings and document delivery via mail, email, or online file transfers.
- Support the management of Continuing Legal Education (CLE) transcripts, bar memberships, and other professional certifications.
- Take on additional duties to support attorneys in delivering high-quality legal services to clients.
Education and Experience Information:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent (required).
- Experience: At least 1 year of experience as a Legal Assistant, with a minimum of 2 years of experience using Microsoft Office.
- Prior experience in a law firm or legal department is preferred.
- Paralegal or legal secretary certification/training is a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and comfortable with PDFs and document management software.
- Strong typing, editing, and proofreading skills.
- Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new software and technologies.
- A desire to grow professionally and take on additional responsibilities as needed.
Salary Information:
- Pay: Up to per hour
- Compensation for this position will be commensurate with relevant legal experience and qualifications.
- Expected hours: 40 per week
