Job Title: Tax Paralegal
Job Responsibilities:
The Tax Paralegal role is integral to supporting the law firm's Private Client Services Section, with a focus on providing assistance to attorneys and clients concerning tax election filings and various tax-related matters at the federal, state, local, and international levels. Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing, filing, and tracking various IRS tax election forms, such as Section 83(b), Forms 8832, 8875, 2553, 1023, and SS-4 for obtaining EINs.
- Communicating effectively with the IRS, clients, attorneys, and other agencies regarding tax filings.
- Compiling, distributing, and tracking documents for signatures, maintaining original records, and overseeing document distribution.
- Collaborating with tax group section members and various practice groups to provide comprehensive support.
- Identifying and resolving issues related to tax filings, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.
- Conducting legal research on federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations to support legal and tax compliance.
- Monitoring deadlines and ensuring timely filing of tax documents and legal submissions.
- Performing other duties as assigned to support the department's objectives.
Education and Experience Information:
- A is required for this position.
- Paralegal experience in a law firm and/or an established multinational company is essential.
- The role demands a strong knowledge of tax regulations and procedures in California and at the federal level.
- Proficiency in legal research tools and government databases is necessary to perform the job effectively.
- The candidate should possess strong interpersonal skills, along with excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- The ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work independently is crucial.
- A high level of professionalism, strong organizational skills, and responsiveness are expected.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, and legal case management software is required.
Salary Information:
The law firm offers a competitive salary and benefits package for the Tax Paralegal position. The annual salary for this California-based role is anticipated to range from $105,000 to $130,000. This range represents the firm's good faith and reasonable estimate of possible compensation at the time of posting. Actual compensation is negotiable and will depend on several factors, including but not limited to, the candidate’s years of experience, qualifications, and skill set.
