Job Title: Assistant General Counsel, Regulatory
Job Responsibilities:
- Render senior-level legal advice and support throughout the life cycle of new regulatory initiatives, serving as a subject matter resource in areas of legal expertise, including crypto assets.
- Advise the Board of Governors and advisory committees on complex and sensitive regulatory initiatives and rule changes, particularly concerning crypto assets.
- Brief and communicate complex regulatory initiatives to senior executives, providing analysis under urgent deadlines.
- Serve as a source of legal expertise within the organization, offering expert advice on various subject areas, including crypto assets.
- Prepare Board materials with sophisticated analyses and discussions necessary for informed judgment by the Board.
- Review and draft new rule proposals independently, incorporating feedback from industry participants, regulators, and other parties; prepare rule filings to the SEC.
- Collaborate with the Office of the Chief Economist on economic impact assessments of rulemakings.
- Meet with senior SEC staff, industry groups, and other parties concerning regulatory initiatives alongside senior attorneys.
- Represent the organization before industry groups.
- Prepare Regulatory Notices, rule guidance, and other correspondence with member firms, their outside counsel, and other interested parties.
- Conduct and oversee research into regulatory policy matters to develop rule proposals and respond to comments and requests.
- Identify and propose original, creative, and sophisticated solutions for changes to existing rules, including the elimination or reduction of unnecessary regulation and the adoption of new rules.
- Serve as liaison to advisory committees as assigned.
- Analyze initiatives from the SEC, industry, and other organizations, maintaining strong relationships with SEC staff and other regulators.
- Attend and speak at regulatory policy public conferences and advisory committee meetings on areas of expertise.
Other Responsibilities:
- Lead or participate in ad hoc special projects and initiatives as requested.
- Provide status reports on assigned matters or projects.
- Develop communications for the Chief Legal Officer and other senior management.
- Suggest and implement ways to increase efficiency and effectiveness of office procedures.
- Train and mentor other attorneys, regulatory analysts, legal assistants, and administrative assistants.
Education and Experience:
- Law degree from an accredited law school and admission to a bar.
- Minimum of 6-8 years of directly related legal experience.
- Advanced knowledge of securities industry laws, rules, and regulations.
- Strong organizational, oral and written communication, judgment, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
- Licensed to practice law in all applicable jurisdictions based on relevant licensing requirements.
Salary Information:
- CA: $150,600 - $305,000
- CO/HI/MN/VT: $131,100 - $254,000
- IL: $144,000 - $279,500
- Jersey City, NJ/NYC, NY: $157,300 - $305,000
- MA/WA: $131,100 - $292,300
- MD/Washington, DC: $150,600 - $292,300
- NJ State: $144,000 - $305,000
- NY State: $131,100 - $305,000
