Paralegal The candidate will calendar is critical to any support staff function, and this is the function in which there can be zero mistakes. The candidate must be familiar with relevant deadlines in the Texas Rules of Civil Procedure; Federal Rules of Civil Procedure; local rules (for setting hearings in the various counties in which our attorneys practice), etc. You must also record internal due dates and procedural response dates for documents received through PACER, Next Gen ECF, District E-Filing programs, and monitor those deadlines. Review, organize, and analyze discovery helps the trial team prepare for depositions, injunction hearings, and trial. Our paralegals are required to review and evaluate discovery, as it relates to the case. Tasks will include performing analysis of financial documents (bank account, receipts, property records, itemizing checks and drafts, etc.) on Excel, reviewing contracts and other documents evidencing the transaction that failed, and creating an analytical chronology of the significant events in the case. Draft interrogatories, requests for production, requests for admissions, and disclosures, as well as prepare and issue discovery to third parties based on the live pleadings in the case. Confer with clients and draft preliminary responses to propounded discovery; prepare status letters to the clients based on new pleading filed or received and notify the AIC of upcoming deadlines in the case, so that the trial team and the client may confer. Prepare basic initial drafts of Original Petitions, Complaints, Motions for Continuance and other non-dispositive motions. We do not use template software. Draft file ready documents. Should preferably have 2+ years of Paralegals & Legal Assistants experience. Should have 4+ years of experience being involved in trials and contested hearings, and experience in business and commercial litigation cases. Must have experience in electronic filing under federal(pacer) and State Court.
