Job Title: Paralegal
Job Responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain case files, indices, and chronologies, ensuring they are well-organized for easy access and review by attorneys or clients.
- Assemble and organize materials requested by attorneys or clients for review, adhering to firm protocols and timelines.
- Utilize various computer applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and imaging software to facilitate discovery and case management.
- Assist in the document production process by reviewing documents for production and/or privilege, tagging and redacting information, preparing privilege and redaction logs, and managing logistics and coordination using document review tools.
- Guide clients in establishing defensible processes that apply the rules of ESI (Electronically Stored Information) preservation and collection.
- Utilize internet file transfer, document security/encryption, and adhere to best practices in managing client data.
- Interact with E-Discovery vendors to ensure quality control and proper vendor management.
- Draft correspondence, memoranda, or pleadings as required by the legal team.
- Conduct investigative and background research, including locating witnesses and gathering cases/legal authority.
- Create and maintain databases of documents and information to support legal proceedings.
- Review and analyze documents, data, and depositions as needed by team attorneys and/or clients.
- Assist in the preparation for depositions of fact and expert witnesses, including coordinating logistics and materials.
- Coordinate preparation of motions and briefs, including proofreading, cite-checking, assembling exhibits, and managing filing and service.
- Assist at trial and in trial preparation, which includes gathering trial exhibits, preparing witness binders, deposition designations, and organizing materials for team attorneys.
- Prepare electronic presentations and coordinate with litigation support personnel for trial use.
- Organize work rooms to ensure efficient workflow and access to necessary materials.
- Liaise with internal firm departments and external sources to gather information and data required for case management.
- Provide proactive management of larger cases, including coordinating support efforts and preparing for upcoming events.
- Perform additional administrative duties as assigned to support the legal team.
- Maintain an annual billable hour requirement of 1500 hours, excluding overtime.
Education and Experience:
- A minimum of 5 years of paralegal or relevant experience is required for this position.
- A Bachelor’s Degree or a paralegal certificate is mandatory to qualify for this role.
Salary Information:
- The salary range for the Paralegal position in Minneapolis is $85,000 - $105,000. Actual salaries will vary based on factors such as relevant experience and skillset.
- The salary range is part of the total compensation package, which includes other monetary rewards such as annual discretionary bonuses based on performance and profit-sharing contributions, contingent on eligibility and firm profitability.
