Baker Botts ., a leading law firm, is seeking a Life Sciences Patent Agent with a minimum of 2 years of experience to join our highly-regarded Intellectual Property team. This position is based in our Austin, Dallas, Houston, New York, or Washington DC office.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare patent applications and responses to patent office communications
- Communicate with clients and inventors regarding scientific aspects of inventions
- Evaluate and report on technological aspects of inventions
- Draft, organize, and review documents
- Conduct research and communicate with various parties
- Coordinate workflow with outside service providers
- Stay informed on technology trends and provide recommendations
- Undertake continuing education to maintain accreditation
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in life sciences
- Licensed to practice before the US Patent and Trademark Office preferred
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of patent drafting procedures and standards
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
- Proficiency in technology and software
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Willingness to travel when necessary
