Job Title: Paralegal - Estate Planning
Job Responsibilities:
The role of the Paralegal in the Estate Planning department at the law firm involves supporting attorneys throughout the various phases of estate planning. The primary responsibilities include drafting essential estate planning documents such as wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance healthcare directives, and any related amendments. The Paralegal will also be responsible for collecting and organizing financial, personal, and asset information from clients to ensure comprehensive and accurate documentation.
Additionally, the Paralegal will manage and maintain both digital and physical client files in strict adherence to the law firm's policies. This includes monitoring deadlines and maintaining tickler systems to ensure timely follow-up. The role requires maintaining up-to-date knowledge of relevant estate, tax, and probate laws to provide accurate and effective support to attorneys and clients. Professional communication with clients, financial advisors, and other third parties is a crucial part of the job to facilitate clear and effective interactions.
Education and Experience Information:
Candidates for this position must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in estate planning or a related legal field. A strong understanding of estate planning documents, terminology, and procedures is essential. Experience with legal practice management software, specifically Smokeball, is required. Additionally, candidates must hold a Notary Public license, which is necessary for the execution of certain legal documents.
