Law Firm Seeking Tax Controversy Associate in Connecticut, New York, or Massachusetts
Job Title: Tax Controversy Associate
Location: Connecticut
Type: Permanent, Full Time
The Law Firm, **Members Only**, is currently seeking a Tax Controversy Associate to join their Connecticut office. This position offers the opportunity to represent clients in both federal and state tax controversies, with a focus on voluntary disclosure cases and audits. The ideal candidate will have 2-6 years of experience with either a law or CPA firm, but there is no maximum experience requirement.
Responsibilities:
- Represent clients in federal and state tax controversies
- Manage multiple cases and filing deadlines
- Conduct research and draft legal documents
- Communicate with IRS agents and other government officials
- Review federal and state income tax returns and associated documentation
- Prepare written responses to governmental authorities
Qualifications:
- JD required, LLM, CPA, MS Tax a plus
- Admitted to practice in CT (or willing to take/waive into the CT Bar)
- 2-6 years of experience with a law or CPA firm
- Strong research, drafting, analytical, and communication skills
- Experience in tax controversy, either through a clerkship with Tax Court, prior work experience, or representation of taxpayers before the IRS
- International tax and reporting experience preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
- Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills
- Detail-oriented and organized
