Job Title: Estate Planning Paralegal
Job Responsibilities:
- Client Education & Professional Interactions: Engage with clients via phone, email, and in person to retrieve data, provide timely follow-ups, and ensure all required information has been collected in coordination with completing their specific Estate Plan.
- Document Preparation: Utilize estate planning software to generate accurate documents based on client preferences, draft any additional ancillary documents, and ensure all necessary details are captured before review by team attorneys.
- Case Management: Organize and maintain case and client files within the practice management system to effectuate 60-day signing goals and 30-day drafting goals, track deadlines, and manage calendars as they relate to upcoming deadlines and signings.
- Client Service: Assist clients as needed, including serving as a witness and/or notary to document execution, scanning and processing client documents, preparing correspondence and filings, etc.
- Trust Funding Guidance: Support clients by providing instruction in coordinating asset transfers and ensuring proper trust funding for a fully implemented estate plan.
- Value Communication: Confidently discuss the estate planning process with clients, overcome objections, and clearly communicate the value of completing their estate plans.
- Administrative Support: Provide backup administrative assistance, client communications, and support marketing events as needed.
Education and Experience Information:
- 3+ years of experience in estate planning, trusts and estates, or elder law.
- Proficiency with estate planning software (., WealthCounsel, Lawyer on Purpose, or Clio) along with Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Certified as a North Carolina Notary Public or willing to gain certification.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is preferred, with preference given to those with focused studies in English, Journalism, or other writing-focused studies.
- Associate’s degree in paralegal studies, or similar field of study is preferred.
- Strong communication skills, including written and verbal, with impeccable spelling and grammar, with the ability to clearly explain complex concepts.
- Project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple clients and tasks independently while maintaining a high level of organization and attention to detail.
- Experience in addressing client objections and articulating the benefits of professional services.
- Positive attitude and proactive personality with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Meticulous attention to detail with high level of organization and the ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment.
- Above-average computer skills and typing skills of 80+ wpm.
- Ability to work, problem-solve, and find solutions independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Ability to follow established processes/systems, but also identify inefficiencies and suggest improvements.
- Ability to sit and work on computer-based programs for up to the majority (80-90%) of the workday.
Salary Information:
- Competitive salary based on experience.
- Salary range: $41,000 - $58,000 per year.
- Pay periods: Bi-weekly (1st and 15th of each month).
