Job Responsibilities:
The Case Manager at the law firm plays a crucial role in supporting the legal team and ensuring the smooth management of case files. The responsibilities include daily interaction with existing and potential clients both via telephone and in person. The Case Manager is tasked with ordering medical records from providers, communicating with clients and providers throughout the course of treatment, and obtaining necessary documents to support injury and/or liability positions. They interact with insurance carriers and healthcare providers to secure records and account balances and negotiate case settlements with insurance carriers. Additionally, the Case Manager negotiates the deduction of outstanding medical balances with providers and works directly with multiple coworkers involved in the management and support of case files. Maintaining organized case files, preparing comprehensive demands, and assembling support for submission to carriers are key responsibilities. The Case Manager also interacts with attorneys, presents case synopses when required, and manages case files from intake to closing under the direction of an attorney. Other related duties may be assigned to meet the needs of the business.
Education and Experience Information:
The preferred educational qualification for the Case Manager position is a Bachelor’s degree. Prior experience as a Personal Injury Case Manager is also preferred. Candidates should have at least two years of experience working in a legal position or experience as an insurance adjuster. The role requires strong negotiating skills and the ability to be a team player who follows procedures. Proactive interaction with clients, insurance companies, and medical providers is essential. Candidates must possess the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage workload with a positive attitude and minimal supervision. Being highly organized with the capability to juggle multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment is crucial. Strong writing and communication skills, along with attention to detail, are important attributes. Extensive computer and database expertise, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and typing no less than 35 words per minute, is required. The position is not eligible for remote work.
