Job Title: Litigation Consultant
Job Responsibilities:
The Litigation Consultant role involves providing expert guidance and substantive input to in-house counsel and external representatives of national law firms on a variety of legal cases. These cases can range from highly technical to highly emotional, involving single-party personal injury cases as well as complex, multi-party commercial litigation. The consultant is also responsible for assisting in the trial skills training of litigators and supporting the development of the trial consulting business. Key responsibilities include:
- Consulting with legal counsel on case strategy
- Assisting in the preparation of opening statements and closing arguments
- Designing instruments for pre-trial research
- Conducting mock research projects and facilitating small group discussions
- Performing post-trial interviews and writing research finding reports
- Creating quantitative data charts following focus group and mock trial research
- Content-analyzing open-ended responses from focus group and mock trial questionnaires and summarizing the findings
- Analyzing quantitative and qualitative data from mock trial and focus group research and incorporating it into written research findings
- Designing and drafting survey protocols
- Utilizing traditional statistical and machine learning methods to analyze aggregated proprietary data for marketing materials and presentations
- Conducting social media analysis of prospective jurors during jury selection
- Presenting research findings and recommendations
- Providing jury selection assistance
- Proposing and delivering seminars and training programs
- Assisting in delivering in-house CLE’s and litigation training programs
- Cultivating existing business relationships
- Conducting witness evaluation and preparation sessions
- Performing additional duties as assigned, maintaining flexibility and commitment to supporting the firm's overall objectives
Education and Experience Information:
The position requires a Master's degree in social science or a similar field, with a . in a social science discipline being preferred. Candidates must have proven experience in litigation consulting and legal communication training. Additionally, superior organizational skills, exemplary written and verbal communication skills, and excellent interpersonal skills are necessary. The ability to manage a demanding workload, set priorities, multitask, and meet stringent deadlines in a fast-paced environment is essential. Extensive travel is also required.
Salary Information:
The salary for a Litigation Consultant is determined based on a candidate's education, training, experience, work location, and the firm's internal value systems, including seniority and merit systems, and internal pay alignment. The salary ranges for specific locations are as follows:
- Colorado: $163, to $272, annually
- Montana: $155, to $259,
- Washington, DC: $180, to $300,
Additionally, a discretionary bonus may be available based on performance.
