Asbestos Paralegal - Medical Records Department (Asbestos Law Experience Required)
Job Responsibilities:
The Medical Records Specialist at the law firm is responsible for the critical task of managing and reviewing medical documentation necessary for asbestos trust fund claims. Key responsibilities include:
- Medical Records Review: Conducting thorough examinations of pathology and radiology reports to ensure they meet the eligibility standards set by asbestos bankruptcy trusts.
- Medical Documentation Coordination: Ordering X-rays and hospital records, and persistently following up with providers to ensure timely delivery.
- Radiology & B-Read Coordination: Collaborating with radiologists to facilitate and track B-read reports, which are used to support asbestos exposure claims.
- Record Management: Maintaining organized and up-to-date files of all relevant records within the firm's case management system.
- Internal Collaboration: Working alongside case managers and attorneys to ensure each trust claim is supported with the required documentation.
- Client Support: Occasionally communicating with clients or providers to clarify medical record details or confirm appointments.
Education and Experience Information:
The ideal candidate for this position should have:
- Experience working in a legal or medical setting, such as a personal injury firm, records department, or asbestos firm.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, particularly related to lung disease, radiology, or oncology.
- A strong attention to detail, with the ability to analyze and interpret pathology and imaging reports.
- Previous experience coordinating with hospitals, imaging centers, and radiologists.
- A self-motivated and organized approach, with the capability of managing deadlines across multiple cases.
- Proficiency with case management tools, with Salesforce experience being a plus.
Salary Information:
The position offers a competitive salary range of $46,000 to $60,000 per year, along with a comprehensive benefits package.
