Job Title: Paralegal - Self-Help Housing Project

Job Responsibilities:
The Paralegal for the Self-Help Housing Project will operate under the supervision of an attorney and collaborate with court personnel at the Pasadena Self-Help Legal Access Center. The primary focus of the role is to offer information, education, and assistance to self-represented individuals, with a strong emphasis on housing issues. The position involves both remote and onsite work, and the Paralegal will report to the Associate Supervising Attorney. Key responsibilities include:

- Collaborating with staff attorneys to interview self-represented individuals and provide them with educational materials, information, and document assistance regarding civil issues, particularly housing.
- Screening and prioritizing legal assistance for over 80 individuals daily.
- Assisting the Staff Attorney in supervising and training volunteers.

Education and Experience Information:
Candidates for the Paralegal position must meet one of the following educational or experiential criteria:

- Possession of a Paralegal Certificate.
- A . or . degree with at least one year of experience working in a law office or other legal setting under the supervision of a licensed attorney, with a letter certifying the experience.
- A high school diploma with three years of experience in a law office or other legal setting under the supervision of a licensed attorney, with a letter certifying the experience. This experience and training should have been completed no later than December 31, 2003.

Additional requirements include:
- Working knowledge of court forms and procedures.
- Excellent organizational, administrative, and writing skills.
- Ability to work in a busy environment and collaborate with a small staff.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, business communication platforms, and web-based case management platforms.
- A passion for the mission of the organization and a demonstrated commitment to advocating for the legal rights of low-income individuals.
- Empathy and compassion for supporting people from different lived experiences.

Bonus qualifications:
- Bilingual in Spanish or another threshold language in Los Angeles County.
- Previous experience serving low-income individuals and client groups on housing and eviction matters, with sensitivity to those in crisis.

Salary Information:
The salary range for the Paralegal position is $50,000 to $58,000, based on experience. The organization offers a 35-hour workweek with a hybrid work schedule to support work-life balance. Additional benefits include:
