Job Title: Legal Assistant - Houston Area
Job Responsibilities:
- Keep cases organized by providing in-office support to attorneys, establishing and organizing files, monitoring calendars, meeting deadlines, documenting actions, and inputting information into file database and case management software.
- Manage the opening and closing of client files.
- Help develop cases by maintaining contact with individuals involved in the case and generating status reports as necessary.
- Support case preparation by organizing materials for team case review.
- Responsible for entering billable time entries and making travel arrangements for attorneys.
- Edit, format, print, and revise all letters, memos, reports, forms, labels, and other printed material.
- Answer phone calls, take notes, messages, and redirect calls when appropriate.
- Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
- Experience reviewing/requesting medical records, responding to/drafting discovery, deposition scheduling/summaries, and bates labeling.
- Support trial preparation, including organizing exhibits, coordinating witnesses, and preparing trial binders.
- Accomplish organizational goals by accepting ownership of new and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job tasks.
- Perform related or similar duties as required or assigned.
Education and Experience:
- 3+ years of experience as a legal assistant, preferably in defense litigation.
- Experience supporting multiple attorneys in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with asbestos or toxic tort litigation is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of legal terminology, court rules, and filing procedures.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and document management systems.
- Excellent organizational, multitasking, and time-management skills.
- High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Texas Notary Public is a plus.
Compensation and Benefits:
