Job Title: Paralegal/Legal Assistant
Job Responsibilities:
The Family Law Paralegal at the law firm will collaborate closely with attorneys on a broad spectrum of family law cases, including divorce, child custody, support, modifications, and domestic violence issues. The role demands an organized, detail-oriented individual capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism and empathy. Key responsibilities include:
- Drafting and preparing legal documents such as petitions, motions, discovery, financial affidavits, parenting plans, and settlement agreements.
- Assisting attorneys in preparation for hearings, mediations, and trials.
- Organizing and maintaining case files in both physical and digital formats.
- Managing deadlines and court calendars to ensure timely filings and disclosures.
- Conducting legal research and summarizing findings for attorney review.
- Gathering, reviewing, and summarizing financial records, medical records, and discovery materials.
- Communicating with clients, court staff, and opposing counsel in a professional and courteous manner.
- Monitoring case progress and providing regular updates to clients and attorneys.
- Assisting with e-filing and service of documents through appropriate court systems.
Education and Experience Information:
The ideal candidate should possess the following qualifications:
- An Associate’s degree or Paralegal Certificate is preferred; a Bachelor’s degree is also preferred.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in family law as a paralegal or legal assistant.
- Proficiency with case management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong organizational, writing, and time management skills.
- The ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a client-first mindset.
Salary Information:
The position offers a pay range of - per hour, as estimated by the employer. The median pay is approximately per hour. This is a full-time or part-time position, with the requirement that the candidate is able to commute to or relocate to Palm Harbor, FL 34683 before starting work. The work location is in person.
