Job Title: Senior Litigation Counsel
Job Responsibilities:
The Senior Litigation Counsel at the company is tasked with advancing the company's interests in a wide range of disputes. This role involves defending the company in litigation, pre-litigation, and regulatory investigation matters. The counsel will supervise and collaborate with outside counsel on complex legal issues and continue to develop and implement efficient e-discovery systems. Monitoring new and changing laws to anticipate evolving litigation liability and risk is a key responsibility. Additionally, the counsel will learn how disputes arise and identify ways to pre-empt them, thus playing a critical role in advocating for the company.
Education and Experience Information:
Candidates should possess a Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and be admitted to the bar in a relevant jurisdiction. A minimum of 10 years of combined experience at a well-respected law firm and in-house legal department is required, with a preference for experience in the tech industry. Hands-on litigation experience in Internet law is essential, covering areas such as platform safety, minor safety, privacy, consumer protection, CDA 230, and DMCA. A strategic mindset is crucial, balancing proactive action with pragmatic risk management. Excellent writing and communication skills are necessary, with the ability to tailor messages to different audiences. Candidates should be willing to take on projects of varying sizes and have experience scaling processes and procedures for a fast-growing company. Demonstrated experience in managing projects, prioritizing, and consistently achieving results is required. High emotional intelligence and an attitude of open-mindedness, collaboration, and humility are also important.
Bonus points are given for in-house experience at a consumer-facing technology platform, experience with regulatory investigations, and litigation experience in regions such as Brazil, Israel, Europe, and the UK. Experience with eDiscovery, particularly complex projects for messaging applications involving voice, video, and text, is advantageous. Subject matter experience in intellectual property disputes, including copyright, trademark, and patent litigation, as well as commercial litigation and dispute resolution, is also beneficial.
Salary Information:
The US base salary range for this full-time position is between $304,000 and $342,000, plus equity and benefits. The salary ranges are determined by the role and level, and within the range, individual pay is determined by additional factors such as job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. The compensation details listed reflect the base salary only and do not include equity or benefits.
