Job Title: Litigation Assistant
Job Responsibilities:
The Litigation Assistant is tasked with supporting the legal operations within the law firm, focusing on various stages of litigation, including prejudgment remedies, judgments, post-judgment remedies, and logistics process work. Key responsibilities include:
- Updating electronic files to ensure accurate and current information.
- Handling occasional phone calls from the Court System.
- Assisting in the preparation of trial and hearing folders.
- Aiding in the preparation of pleadings and correspondence.
- Processing daily mail and ensuring all received information is accurately updated in the collection software system.
- Scanning, copying, printing, and redacting legal documents as needed.
- Performing other duties as assigned by the Office Manager or Designee.
Education and Experience:
Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent, with a preference for those with some college education or paralegal studies. The role prefers one to three years of experience in a similar position with familiarity in legal terminology, although on-the-job training is provided. Proficiency in the Microsoft Suite of products is required.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- A results-driven and customer-focused approach is essential.
- The ability to prioritize and manage multiple work assignments effectively.
- Strong attention to detail while maintaining high-quality work output.
- Regular attendance in the office is an essential function of the position.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Frequent requirement to talk, hear, and use hands to type, handle, or touch objects.
- Regularly required to stand, walk, and may need to stoop, bend, or reach above the shoulders.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
- Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.
Work Environment:
The position is primarily office-based with the potential for a hybrid work arrangement. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm.
