Legal Assistant, Default Chronologies
Job Responsibilities
A Legal Assistant in the Default Chronologies department is responsible for preparing a legal report that provides a concise, factual, and informative summary of the foreclosure process. This role requires maintaining a daily workload to meet all client and regulatory requirements. The work is distributed among team members for completion each day. The assistant must maintain a working knowledge of work rules and any changes governing chronologies. Essential functions include:
- Completing daily workload and ensuring that all prepared chronologies for clients are completed in accordance with governing work rules, client procedures, and service level agreements.
- Handling and ensuring all escalations and corresponding with attorneys, sales, and clients on issues included in the chronologies within applicable timeframes.
- Ensuring all chronology reports are sent to the requestor via the Lender system.
- Responding to client inquiries via phone, email, and lender systems regarding additional details about the chronologies.
- Assisting with maintaining workflow timeliness through investor prioritization, including approaching standard items and RUSH items, to maximize compliance with client service level agreements.
- Staying informed of client changes and updates and taking appropriate action as required.
- Staying informed of CFPB changes and state regulatory changes.
- Performing other duties as required.
Education and Experience Information
The position requires a strong knowledge of real estate and loan documents, as well as default services, including foreclosure, eviction, and bankruptcy. Candidates should have excellent organizational and time management skills, strong verbal, written, and communication skills, and demonstrate strong leadership and people skills. The ability to independently solve complex problems, work under pressure, meet deadlines, and make swift, sound judgments is essential. Candidates must be capable of working independently under fast-paced conditions with changing priorities and must be adaptable to new situations. Positive and innovative leadership skills are required, and candidates must feel at ease working with senior management. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) and business Skype is necessary, and knowledge of LoanSphere BK/FC, Clarifier, Vendorscape, and Tempo systems is preferred.
Educational qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree preferred, some college required, and a high school diploma required. Candidates should have a minimum of 1+ years of mortgage servicing experience and a minimum of 1+ years of foreclosure experience is preferred.
Salary Information
The pay range for this position is $20 to $23 hourly.
This position is non-exempt and full-time. The job is available in various locations across the law firm, and applications are currently being accepted.
