Job Title: Legal Assistant I
Job Responsibilities:
Legal Assistants in this position are responsible for a wide range of secretarial and clerical duties aimed at assisting Assistant State Attorneys. Key responsibilities include:
- Performing secretarial and clerical tasks related to criminal court proceedings.
- Setting up and maintaining attorney calendars.
- Managing documents and pulling files for the daily court calendar.
- Making travel arrangements for attorneys.
- Screening calls and providing information to the general public.
- Attending courtroom sessions as required.
- Reviewing files and preparing appropriate motions and orders.
The role requires a professional demeanor, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work well in a team environment. Candidates must be highly organized, motivated, and capable of handling confidential matters with discretion. The ability to work under pressure and with minimal supervision after training is essential.
Education and Experience Information:
The minimum educational requirement for this position is a high school diploma or an equivalency. Additionally, candidates must have two years of secretarial or clerical experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Applicants must be able to pass a background check and provide proof of identity and . citizenship or legal right to work in the United States.
Salary Information:
The starting annual salary for this position is $35,, which is commensurate with education and experience.
