Job Title: Assistant Corporation Counsel III

Job Responsibilities:
- Represents the organization in all aspects of labor law litigation, including arbitrations, the Department of Labor Relations, and the Civil Service Commission.
- Provides in-house legal counsel on labor and employment-related matters, which may include human resources issues, wage and hour law, state agency claims, labor relations, employee benefits, collective bargaining agreements, and policy-related issues.
- Manages assigned caseload representing the organization.
- Responsible for litigation in state and federal courts related to labor matters.
- Performs legal research and renders opinions to organization officials and departments by identifying and assessing legal risks and opportunities within the labor and employment area.
- May conduct investigations in conjunction with the department by gathering information, interviewing individuals, and reviewing documents regarding personnel investigations and/or policy violations.
- Responsible for ordinance drafting, litigation preparation, advice on municipal law matters, negotiation, and other assignments.
- Mentors and assists other attorneys in the conduct of their litigation, contract review, contract negotiation, and departmental advising.
- Performs work as required.

Education and Experience Information:
- A Juris Doctor Degree.
- Licensed to practice in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts with no disciplinary record.
- At least five (5) or more years of experience, preferably within a government agency or in labor relations.
- Ability to read and interpret legal documents such as decisions, briefs, opinions, and contracts.
- Knowledge of theory, principles, and practices of law, including labor and employment law.
- Strong critical thinking skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Westlaw, Lexis, and Social Law Library.
- Ability to exercise good judgment and focus on detail as required by the job.
- Excellent, clear, and effective writing and organizational skills.
- Maintains professional working relationships with opposing counsel and senior-level staff.
- Ability to interact with people who are under physical and/or emotional stress.
- Ability to write concisely and effectively, to express thoughts clearly, and to develop ideas in a logical sequence.
- Ability to make effective oral presentations and communicate effectively in oral expression.

Salary Information:
- Salary Range: $123, to $155,

Additional Information:
- Boston residency required.
- Union/Salary Plan/Grade: Non-Union/MM2-13
- Hours per week: 35
