Job Title: Broadcast Labor Counsel

Job Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the Portland and Seattle Executive Director, the Broadcast Labor Counsel represents the interests of the organization and its members by enforcing the News and Broadcast collective bargaining agreements. The key responsibilities include:

- Serving as the lead negotiator or supporting negotiations with employers in Portland and/or Seattle Locals and potentially assisting other locals with bargaining or disputes.
- Collaborating with the Portland and Seattle Executive Director on broadcast matters arising from Portland and Seattle Local collective bargaining agreements (CBAs).
- Providing consultation for personal service contracts.
- Aligning with the national strategy on issues such as minimum contractual standards.
- Coordinating with the Portland and Seattle Executive Director on all representational and associated legal work before the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) and Washington State Public Employment Relations Commission (PERC).
- Preparing legal opinions and documents that interpret applicable laws, rulings, the organization's constitution and contracts, and various regulations related to News & Broadcast matters and other assignments.
- Conducting legal and factual research.
- Managing and collaborating in the handling of arbitration matters, both simple and complex, concerning News & Broadcast-related grievances.
- Managing and assisting in the representation of the organization in state and federal court as well as administrative proceedings regarding litigation brought by or against the organization, with respect to News & Broadcast issues.
- Cultivating and maintaining strong relationships with various stakeholders, including organization members and staff, member representatives, news and sports directors, station managers, program directors, producers, entertainment unions, and other organizations.
- Participating in labor management committee meetings, member outreach, and internal/external organizing efforts for broadcast stations in the same geographical area.
- Performing other duties as assigned or as the situation dictates.

Education and Experience Information:
- A Juris Doctor or LLB degree from an ABA-accredited law school or equivalent.
- At least two years of experience as a practicing attorney, preferably in labor law, contract law, and other forms of collective bargaining enforcement, or equivalent.
- Active membership in the State Bar of Washington.
- Must have a current driver's license, an automobile in reliable working condition, and current automobile insurance that meets the state minimum requirements.

Salary Information:
