eBilling Specialist
Job Description
An eBilling Specialist is responsible for managing and processing electronic billing for a law firm. Key duties include:
- Obtaining matter identification numbers from clients to ensure proper tracking and billing.
- Submitting timekeeper data to clients, ensuring accuracy and compliance with client specifications.
- Creating new electronic files in the required Legal Electronic Data Exchange Standard (LEDES) format.
- Collaborating with Billing Attorneys and Billing Coordinators to ensure that e-bills are prepared accurately and align with clients' outside counsel policies.
- Submitting e-bills to clients and verifying the successful transmission of these bills.
- Tracking the status of submitted invoices, identifying any issues, and working with Billing Attorneys and Billing Coordinators to address client deductions and other billing-related issues.
- Collaborating with the Billing & Collections Manager to develop and streamline e-billing processes and procedures to enhance the efficiency, effectiveness, and quality of e-billing operations.
- Monitoring the status of insurance company billing engagements to ensure compliance with billing requirements set forth by various insurance company clients. This includes assuring full payment of invoices issued by the firm.
- Handling special projects and ad hoc requests from Billing Attorneys and/or supervisors.
Requirements
The position requires a Bachelor's degree (.) or equivalent from a four-year college or university in accounting, finance, information technology, or another quantitative field of study. A minimum of three years of work experience within the accounting function of a service sector organization is required, with a preference for law firm billing experience. This experience must include at least one year of advanced e-billing experience, encompassing tasks such as tracking status, troubleshooting, and liaising with clients' staff to resolve problems. Expertise in the Elite Legal Billing System is a significant plus. The candidate must possess advanced Excel spreadsheet skills and advanced mathematical skills.
Education and Experience Information
- Bachelor's degree (.) or equivalent in accounting, finance, information technology, or other quantitative fields.
- Minimum three years of work experience within the accounting function of a service sector organization, preferably with law firm billing experience.
- At least one year of advanced e-billing experience, including tracking status, troubleshooting, and resolving client issues.
- Expertise in the Elite Legal Billing System is beneficial.
- Advanced skills in Excel spreadsheets and mathematics are required.
