Job Title: Legal Assistant - Bilingual in English and Spanish Required
Job Responsibilities:
The legal assistant provides a range of legal support and administrative assistance to lawyers and other legal professionals engaged in immigration law at the law firm. This position requires proficiency in both English and Spanish, as well as experience in writing, translating, and maintaining legal documentation in both languages. The essential duties and responsibilities include:
- Performing legal and factual research, including records research.
- Identifying relevant judicial decisions, statutes, legal articles, codes, and other pertinent materials.
- Organizing and analyzing information, cross-checking and validating details.
- Preparing written reports and drafting legal documents, including applications, declarations, and motions.
- Checking legal forms and documents for accuracy to ensure compliance with regulations.
- Maintaining reference files, organizing, and tracking case files for efficient case management.
- Coordinating law office activities to ensure smooth operations and timely task completion.
- Locating and communicating with witnesses and interacting with clients while maintaining professionalism.
- Assisting the lawyer in the courtroom by providing necessary support during proceedings.
- Performing other duties as assigned and adapting to the needs of the team.
Key Abilities:
- Ability to be detail-oriented, diligent, and flexible in managing tasks.
- Capability to handle conflicting time demands and focus on task completion with minimal direction, requiring little to no supervisory follow-up.
- Fluent command of both English and Spanish is a non-negotiable requirement. The candidate must be experienced in translating and writing in both languages with accuracy and professionalism.
- Proven ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse ethnic backgrounds and professional competencies, maintaining patience and professionalism in all interactions.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Outlook.
- Ability to operate basic office equipment such as a copy machine, fax machine, printer, scanner, and computer.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in a professional and responsible manner.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
