The Law Firm is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Paralegal to join their growing insurance defense team in their New York City office. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, exceptional writing skills, and the ability to work independently as well as in a team setting. This is a full-time position with a competitive salary and benefits package, including health care, dental, vision, and 401K plans.
As a Paralegal at the Law Firm, you will be responsible for providing administrative support to one or more lawyers. This includes effectively communicating with witnesses, clients, colleagues, and partners, as well as sourcing and verifying important case information. Extensive knowledge of the discovery process is essential, as you will be responsible for tasks such as demands/responses and retrieving medical records in accordance with HIPAA requirements. You will also have the opportunity to produce and file various legal documents, such as appeals, motions, and petitions, and maintain an updated case record system. Additionally, you will play a crucial role in meeting deadlines by managing multiple agendas and providing timely reminders.
To be successful in this role, you should have proven experience as a legal secretary or paralegal, with a strong knowledge of MS Office and legal technology. Outstanding time-management and typing skills are also required, as well as the ability to multitask and work with a diverse group of people. A legal secretary/paralegal certification or diploma is a plus, and experience with Federal Court procedures is preferred.
