Job Title: Litigation Paralegal – Personal Injury
Job Responsibilities:
The Litigation Paralegal for Personal Injury at the law firm is responsible for supporting attorneys throughout all stages of the litigation process, which spans from the filing of the complaint to the trial itself. The candidate will be an integral part of the trial team, taking on tasks that are essential for case progression and courtroom preparation. Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing legal documents such as pleadings, motions, affidavits, complaints, and legal memoranda.
- E-filing all court documents within the state.
- Engaging in communications with clients, courts, counsel, and other relevant parties.
- Conducting legal research and factual investigations.
- Preparing discovery documents, interrogatories, and responses.
- Drafting and serving summons.
- Coordinating and summarizing depositions.
- Preparing trial binders and exhibits.
- Drafting pleadings, motions, appellate documents, and filing them with the court.
- Performing administrative duties, including calendaring hearings and deadlines, organizing case files, and managing logistics.
- Maintaining pleadings and discovery indexes.
- Organizing exhibits, documents, evidence, briefs, and appendices.
- Assisting attorneys with interrogatories and other discovery requests.
- Gathering relevant information from various sources.
- Preparing witnesses for trial.
- Assisting with case settlements.
- Performing other tasks as requested by the attorney.
Education and Experience:
The position requires an associate degree, certificate, or equivalent work experience, although completion of a nationally accredited paralegal program is preferred. Candidates must have at least 3 years of litigation experience, with a preference for those experienced in personal injury, workers' compensation, premises, or other injury-related practice areas. The role demands excellent written and verbal communication skills, proficiency in calendaring depositions, mediations, and hearings, and applicable knowledge of motions, discovery, evidence, litigation documentation, court rules, and procedures. Candidates must be highly organized, capable of managing multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment, and fluent in Spanish.
Salary Information:
The salary for this full-time position ranges from $60,000 to $85,000 per year, depending on experience. This salary range is employer-provided, and the median salary is approximately $73,000 per year.
Schedule:
The position is full-time, with an 8-hour shift from Monday to Friday, typically from 9 am to 5 pm. The work location is in person at the Coral Gables office.
