Job Responsibilities:
The Litigation Assistant at the law firm is responsible for providing comprehensive support to attorneys within the litigation group. Key duties include:
- Scheduling and coordinating meetings and conference calls, both internally and externally, using platforms like Zoom or reserving conference rooms.
- Calculating and tracking important docket deadlines to ensure timely filings and actions.
- Drafting and preparing legal documents such as correspondence, pleadings, and engagement letters, ensuring they include all necessary details like recipient information, case captions, and signature blocks.
- Conducting conflict searches to clear potential legal conflicts and opening new client matters.
- Managing logistical arrangements for depositions, hearings, and trials, including coordinating travel and expenses.
- Preparing binders and other materials necessary for case preparation.
- Finalizing and filing pleadings with trial-level and appellate courts, utilizing the e-Courts filing system.
- Ensuring compliance with state and federal court rules and filing procedures.
Education and Experience Information:
Candidates for the Litigation Assistant position are required to have a minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role. They must demonstrate exceptional computer, leadership, and organizational skills, with a strong ability to multitask. Proficiency in Microsoft Word is essential, particularly in creating Tables of Authorities and Tables of Contents. Experience working effectively in a team-oriented environment is also required.
