Job Title: Marketing & Business Development Manager - Energy & Natural Resources
Job Responsibilities:
The Marketing & Business Development Manager for the Energy & Natural Resources sector at the law firm is responsible for framing, driving, and executing the marketing strategy and supporting business development efforts for the sector on a global scale. This includes internal and external profile-raising initiatives. The manager will work closely with Sector Group Heads, Sector Team Leads, key partners, and senior members of the global Marketing & Business Development (M&BD) team. Additionally, the role acts as the M&BD lead for Energy Transition, which involves collaboration with Energy Transition Heads, Industry Sector Groups, and energy transition attorneys across the firm.
Key responsibilities include:
Marketing Campaigns & Profile Raising:
- Develop and implement goals, initiatives, and strategies for the growth of key clients within the Energy Sector.
- Manage operations for Energy Transition and wider Energy Sector teams, including Power and Renewables, Oil and Gas, and Nuclear.
- Contribute to integrated campaigns and thought leadership to enhance internal and external profiles, including existing and potential clients.
- Drive regional and global initiatives and thought leadership for the Energy Transition team.
- Assist in the creation and publication of thought leadership materials.
- Handle directory and award submissions.
- Stay informed of industry, legal, and business trends impacting the Energy Sector and identify promotional opportunities.
- Support the implementation of business plans for the Energy Sector.
Pitches & Business Development:
- Develop solutions and tools to advance Energy Transition efforts globally.
- Manage and support responses to RFPs and strategic pitch opportunities for the sector.
- Evaluate sector strengths and research existing and prospective clients, competitor activity, and industry trends for marketing plans, pitches, presentations, and proposals.
- Liaise with the global Pitches & Pursuits team for input on other industry sector, practice, or firmwide pitches.
- Create and maintain standard targeted marketing materials, including credentials documents and experience lists.
- Support other strategic business development and promotional initiatives as needed.
Client Relationship Management:
- Act as a client relationship manager for key clients in the energy industry.
- Ensure adoption of client relationship management principles and best practices across the industry sector, in conjunction with the Client Development team.
- Identify cross-selling opportunities within existing sector group, practice group, and firm clients, working with the business development team and attorneys to expand client relationships.
- Conduct and document client feedback interviews as part of the firm’s Client Listening program.
- Encourage effective use of the firm’s CRM database.
Events:
- Identify and coordinate practice group, industry, and firm events to support client and business development objectives.
- Plan and manage marketing communications programs and events, including flagship events and smaller seminars and receptions, supporting industry and practice business development plans.
- Work with Sector Group and Sector Team leaders to plan internal sector meetings and retreats.
Education and Experience Information:
- Required Skills:

- Project and team management experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Experience in InDesign, iPublish, and InterAction (or other CRM systems) is desirable.
- Education, Certifications, and/or Experience:
- Seven (7)+ years of relevant experience preferred, preferably in a legal or similar professional services industry.
- Working knowledge of the energy industry and energy transition market is desirable.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in marketing, communications, or related field is preferred.
Salary Information:
The position is posted in multiple locations with the following salary ranges:
- Washington, DC: $150,000 to $188,000 annually.
- New York: $160,000 to $203,000 annually.
Salaries depend on the candidate's overall experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. Full-time employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus. Additionally, full-time and some part-time employees will be eligible for the firm’s fringe benefits as they currently exist.
