Senior Client Employee Benefits Advisor
Job Responsibilities:
The Senior Client Employee Benefits Advisor will be an integral member of the law firm's Employee Benefits Practice Group (EBPG), providing support under the supervision of partners. The key responsibilities include:
- Reviewing statutory, regulatory, and other governmental pronouncements to assess their impact on clients’ employee benefit plans.
- Preparing and amending employee benefit plans to ensure compliance with applicable legal requirements and to implement plan design changes.
- Preparing and revising summary plan descriptions and other employee communications.
- Advising clients on resolving and correcting compliance issues and other technical matters in the day-to-day administration of their employee benefit plans and programs.
- Assessing the impact of corporate transactions, such as mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures, on clients’ employee benefit plans.
- Preparing IRS determination letter requests and other governmental filings.
- Conducting internal benefit compliance audits of client benefit plans, policies, and practices.
- Assisting in the preparation of EBPG publications and materials, including blog posts and law updates, and participating in webcasts and other programs to communicate new laws, regulatory changes, and other important developments to clients.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Information:
- A is required.
- A minimum of five years of related experience as a member of a benefits consulting team, client service team, or a law firm team in the employee benefits practice area. Other relevant experience will also be considered.
- Experience with employee benefits, retirement, and health and welfare plans is required.
- Certified Employee Benefits Specialist certification is preferred.
