Job Title: Matter Mobility Data Technician

Job Responsibilities:
As a member of the Information Governance Department, the Matter Mobility Data Technician is responsible for coordinating all technical aspects of mobilizing client records into and out of the law firm. This includes collaborating closely with practice groups, administrative departments, the General Counsel, Office Administrators, and other relevant staff to ensure compliance with the law firm’s information governance processes and procedures. Key responsibilities include:

- Demonstrating expert understanding of electronic client data, applied to the collection, analysis/review, secure transport, and documentation of such data.
- Working with newly integrated attorneys and coordinating with the IT department at the prior firm to retrieve matter data.
- Communicating with attorneys, Client Service Specialists, and other business professionals as new data comes in, and tracking data that is received.
- Advising attorneys to open matters as new data is received and helping them provide a cross-reference of old to new matters.
- Providing timely reports by writing queries and joining tables in SQL, and designing SQL scripts that can be easily manipulated for future analyses.
- Following established procedures to protect the integrity and authenticity of records.
- Maintaining an in-depth understanding of industry trends and evolving technology.

Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.

Education and Experience Information:
Education:
- An associate degree or certification with a focus in computer science, scripting, or software is required. A bachelor’s degree is preferred. A combination of education and experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Experience:
- A minimum of 5 years of prior experience in data migration is required.
- A minimum of 3 years of matter mobility experience is preferred.
- Prior experience with PL/SQL and SQL Plus is required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledgeable in SQL and document management systems, preferably iManage.
- Ability to write queries and join tables for reports.
- Ability to recognize data in load files and translate it prior to import into iManage.
- Proficient in Excel and able to combine and manipulate multiple data sets.
- Ability to handle voluminous projects, deadlines, and tasks through completion accurately, with agility in handling shifting priorities and effective teamwork skills.
- Detail-oriented, accurate, adaptable, outstanding client service skills, and ability to analyze for best solutions.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:
This position operates in a clerical, office setting and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. The role involves sedentary work, with exertion of physical strength to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects up to 10 pounds. Work primarily involves sitting, although walking and standing are often necessary to carry out job duties.

Visual Acuity:
The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, and extensive reading.
